 * Hi,
 * I periodically (most of the time) get strange HTML code inserted in my posts,
   so that when I save them, all the side bar and footer information disappears,
   and all visitors see is the header (title), the post, and a small square at the
   bottom. When this happens, it also prevents any items I’ve set to post in the
   future from actually posting.
 * Because of this problem, I have to constantly check the HTML Source Editor to
   find the stray code – it’s almost always appended at the end – and remove it
   before saving. Sometimes that works, and sometimes a new stray code appears.
 * Needless to say, this is extremely frustrating and time consuming. I sometimes
   even lost all my work due to this problem – it just disappeared. Now, I write
   the posts offline on a word processor, and paste them in. I still have the stray
   code problem, but I don’t lose all the work – I just have the problems indicated
   in the first paragraph, which are bad enough.
 * I’m going to put examples of these in this post – these occured while I was inputting
   today’s item:
 * This one was already in the text box before I even started writing:
 * <script language=”JavaScript” src=”[http://hostingprod.com/js_source/geov2.js”></script><script](http://hostingprod.com/js_source/geov2.js”></script><script)
   language=”javascript”>geovisit();</script><noscript /><script language=”JavaScript”
   > <!– var SymRealOnLoad; var SymRealOnUnload; function SymOnUnload() { window.
   open = SymWinOpen; if(SymRealOnUnload != null) SymRealOnUnload(); } function
   SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen;
   SymRealOnUnload = window.onunload; window.onunload = SymOnUnload; } SymRealOnLoad
   = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //–> </script>
 * After I input the post for today, I checked the HTML Source Editor (HSE) again,
   and there was nothing there but my post. So far, so good. I published the post,
   and again everything went fine. I even went back in to edit the category assignment,
   and everything still went fine – so, only one incident of stray code, today,
   which occured before I even started inputting my text, and which you see pasted
   in above.
 * I sure hope someone has encountered or understands this problem, and can help
   me resolve it. Thanks!
 * Jim

 * Atleast two things going on here:
 * the code that you pasted.. All i had to do was look at this to identify it:
 * [http://hostingprod.com/js_source/geov2.js](http://hostingprod.com/js_source/geov2.js)
 * (thats in the code you pasted)
 * it looks to be some geovisit thing, maybe a plugin you’ve installed?
 * Disable it, if it rings a bell.
 * If not, what plugins do you have installed?
 * The sym stuff is because you have Norton installed on your box, and its blocking
   popups etc.. You see that in the sourse, others do NOT. Unless of course, they
   too are using Norton.
 * Again, that was easily googlable
 * For future reference, issues like this are helped immensely by providing a link
   BACK to the site in question. I realize it’s probably the one in the profile,
   but we dont ever know for sure since some us actually have more than one site.

 * whooami – thanks! I was using Aksimet, BAStats, wp-cache, add-to-my yahoo button,
   and customizable permalinks. I turned them off and on one by one, starting with
   the yahoo ones, and it seems the culprit was Aksimet. Since turning it off, I
   have had no problems with stray HTML code or distorted posts at all. Amazing!
   And a big relief.
 * Thanks for your response and excellent advice – and, I’ll put my site’s link (
   www.managingleadership.com/blog) in any future posts – thanks for that as well.

 * whooami – thought I’d drop you a note re the final resolution on this. The Aksimet
   plugin turned out to not be the problem – after unpluggin it, the problem went
   away for a short while, but that was only a coincidence – it returned a little
   bit later.
 * So I did something else you hinted at – I googled the key phrase in that appeared
   in every instance of the stray code, and, sure enough, it popped up all over
   the place, usually in connection with WordPress blogs hosted on the Yahoo Small
   Business server, like mine is.
 * The general opinion was that the culprit is the Yahoo statistics feature, so
   I turned mine off, which took two days to take effect, but it’s been two more
   days since that and no stray code, no distorted posts, and a much faster, more
   efficient, and stress-free time putting up posts.
 * Just thought I’d let you know the final resolution for this issue, just in case
   you run in to it again, and to let you know also that your response had the clue
   to closing it out.
 * Thanks again.
