Strange Subscribers

I added a plugin to take the site down temporarily for maintenance (it has been down now for about 6 days), which worked great, but I still have people who are signing up as subscribers. Any idea how this is possible? They all seem to be from the domain of 126.com which is an Asian website that is not translatable.
