• Hello,

So I tried to search here but couldn’t find something similar. So I have a problem of what seems like a redirect, but just on the address of the link and not of the content.

Every blog post, tag and category link has this problem (pages don’t have this problem). Basically when any link is visited, the address bar change it to homepage (http://manuluize.com), then it changes to right permalink, then it changes again to homepage address and then finally it stops at the right permalink address.
(example visit the page https://manuluize.com/en/diy-face-mask-with-honey/ and check address bar)
You can also check a video I did showing the problem to send to my server support: https://streamable.com/uxixib

While this happens the content shown is the right content, just the address bar changes.

The problem is that Google Analytics understand almost all visits of my blog as people visiting only manuluize.com homepage and not the different articles. It also happens that if someone shares an image on Pinterest or tried to copy the link from address bar or share it on WhatsApp during this process, big chances is this shares the homepage address manuluize.com and not the right article.

    • I already had 2 different developers to look at it with no luck (first said it was a plugin, I contacted plugin developer and they said no, I even stopped using the plugin and problem still there).
    • I also contacted my server (godaddy) and they said no problem on their site. • I even erased my wordpress blog and started from zero importing the blog posts and installing a new theme.
    • I deactivated all plugins, nothing helps.
    • .htaccess was already made new also.

    • The last developer could only find that this problem is solved only when changing pretty permalinks (post name) to plain (only in this option). But of course that would be a huge problem for SEO and for all the thousands and thousand links I already have on the internet pointing to my blog.

This problem have been happening for 2 years now with no solution.

    • I noticed it started when SLL certificate was installed and blog was changed from HTTP to HTTPS for the 1st developer, because I can see on my Google analytics all worked fine on http property, until it was changed to https and even the first month of https property shows that homepage was the most visited and started to stop showing most blog permalinks. I can mainly see all visits was manuluize.com and AMP pages.

I have 2 languages on the website, I’m using Polylang plugin if it helps any info. And I actually wanted to create a new translation, but I’m trying to fix it before.

I’m not a developer savvy, so if any other information is requested to know more or have any idea of how I could fix it, please, let me know.

Thank you so much in advance.

  • One of the first things I’d do is lose that G+Comments plugin which may be called Comments Evolved now… or something like that.

I’d also lose that Reduce Bounce Rate plugin… That sounds like ‘Snake Oil’ to me.

They both seem to be unsupported anymore, a bit too old, and possibly looking for assets that don’t exist.

    The DNS records look okay…

There’s a slim chance there’s an Nginx proxy in front of your webserver and that might be causing this but I’d think two years would be too long for that to persist as a cache problem and I can’t think of a good reason for the proxy’s config to cause that.

And I don’t see a proxy server. Never the less, at the end of the rest of this you might add the Cache Enabler plugin to gain a bit of control over the cache headers. Or you might add a cache plugin like W3 Total Cache but I’d solve these other problems first.

If it was me, I’d stay up late one evening and kill the rest of those plugins and revert to a default theme… I would not do that with the Health Check plugin but I’d manually do these as I don’t want anything to interfere with my testing.

    See how it acts then…

If it’s fine then turn the theme back on and see if the problem returns.

If it’s still good then turn the plugins back on one by one and see what happens.

If the problem still exists without the theme and plugins then I’d start looking really hard at my server.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for your reply.

So I did that but with no luck. Even erasing those 2 plugins, going back to a default theme and deactivating the plugins again. Could it be that something is sticking?

    I did two other tests:

    1. I created subdomain test.manuluize.com, installed wordpress and only added Polylang plugin (created 2 languages) and imported blog posts. Changed permalinks to pretty post name. It worked fine. Imported pages and also worked fine.

    2. I created another wordpress but at manuluize.com/testblog/ . And I did the same, installed only Polylang and imported blog posts, changed permalinks to pretty postname. It also worked fine.

Would doing those 2 tests mean that the problem is not on the server?

I’m considering erasing manuluize.com wordpress and files again to try to create another wordpress and import blog posts and files again to see if it works now. 🤦🏻‍♀️
