• I am sure I’m missing something simple but feel I’m staring at a mystery…

If you travel to the blog page of the above site and scroll all the way down, you can see the first “blog” at the bottom shows for the text “This is the excerpt for your very first post.” although the post has text in the editor and if you link it.

*I’ve inherited this site’s management and just took it over, trying to fix all the issues and then improve aspects so thank you!!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

That is the initial default post that was automatically there when the site was first created. Whenever you create a new WordPress site, you’ll always will see that first introductory post. It has a featured image added to the post as well. Feel free to delete that particular post – that is what is normally done. There’s no need to have it once you start blogging with your own posts.

    Hope that helps.

Actually, once I clicked on the post, I see what you are referring to – there is actual post content on the post that doesn’t reflect what’s in the excerpt. That is weird. Let me look at this further for you.

BTW: Your site is hosted on WordPress.com, so it would be better to post here for assistance:

    Thanks,

    Okay, found the issue.

If you check the post in the new editor here, you’ll see in the excerpt module it says

This is the excerpt for your very first post.

Here’s a screenshot of what you should see:

    Excerpt

If you remove the except, you should see normal content for the post.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
