Support » Fixing WordPress » Strange Error – Have I been hacked?

  • Hi everyone,

My site http://www.rapnews.co.uk has been displaying fine for years. After a few weeks of not visiting it, I just have, to discover the template/layout has all been nudged.

The header image is no longer at the very top of the page, and the sidebar begins quite a way down.

I haven’t changed anything in WordPress. Nobody else has access.

Do you have any ideas what could have caused this or how I could fix the problem?

    Thanks a lot,

    Tony.

You’ve definitely been hacked somehow. There’s some javascript that’s been inserted above the page.

Search through all your files for “mee.exe” and find where that code is, then remove it.

    And then upgrade… sigh.

Hi, I’ve gone through the site and can’t find the mee.exe file on the server… any ideas?

    cheers!

he said to look through your files for the relevant code, NOT to look for the file itself.

    Read **better** grasshopper.
