  • Try adding this to your functions.php
    remove_action(‘wp_head’, ‘wp_generator’);

    Thanks for the reply.
    It didn’t work 🙁

    Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme.

    Did that too
    Actually I tried it in a fresh install of WP with twentyeleven.
    Is it possible that the problem is related with language? All my WP are in brazilian portuguese

    By switching language to en-US, is the problem fixed?

    A shot from the source code view

    It prints the characters right before anything else. I changed the DOCTYPE, but no luck!

    Check the PHP error log.

    Nothing in the error log.

    But I found the problem.

    I downloaded a new copy of wordpress and created a new site again, when I activated contact form 7 with this new site I got an error saying “Cannot modify header in contact-form-7/modules/._acceptance.php”, so I realized that this file does not exist and it’s created by Mac OS X, so in Terminal I deleted all files started with ._ and the 2 sites are now working.

    Is contact-form-7 reading or including the ._ (mac os x hidden files), perhaps reading all files in a folder?

    Anyway, thanks for the help 🙂

    Contact Form 7 doesn’t contain any files starting with ._. Where did you download it from?

    I know that, I downloaded it from, files starting with “.” are created from Mac OS to store some information from files like icons for instance, the ._ (which are hidden) were created from the zip file downloaded today, it’s OK to create those files, the odd procedure is Contact Form 7 or WordPress try to read these files.
    It doesn’t happen with any other plugin I downloaded, for example, I use a plugin called WP-paginate in this site and it worked without trouble.
