Strange character at the beginning of a page…

    When doing a fresh install of 2.0.4 I get these three characters on a blank screen before every (or so) page loads.

    “”

    In case they don’t show properly, they are: an I with umlaut, curly small double braces pointin right (haha) and a reverse question mark.

    When the installation is complete and I try to log in, I only get a blank screen after I hit login..

    Help. Please 🙁

    Ok problem solved. wp-config.php needs to have ANSI encoding instead of the UTF-8 I naturally assumed. Can someone share their knowledge about why this is happening?
