Straightforward help with importing from Textpattern please!

I am trying to get all the posts out of an existing (live) Texpattern site and in to a newly installed WP site (currently local). I have tried CSV export/import but can’t work out how to get the formatting right, and I have tried using the installer script (through the UI) and it appers to be running but says ‘Done! 0 posts imported.’. I’m not entirely sure I understand exactly what to enter as the TP DB User, Password,DB name and Host even if it was working.

I know there is lots on these forums about this, but there are many dead ends and broken links and also things that I just don’t understand.

If anyone can spare the time to offer me some step by step instructions in plain English to get the posts in (don’t mind which method) that would be immensely helpful and I would be eternally grateful. It’s really very frustrating knowing what you need and not having the technical know-how to do it.

I could go straight to a live WP site if that was in anyway easier.
