    Hi guys,

We’ve started creating WebStories and it has been somewhat successful. They do seem to generate quite a bit of traffic.

However, I’ve noticed that a page we had that was ranking on the first page of a particular keyword has disappeared from the results shortly after attaching a story to it.
Now only the story is visible in the results, even for Desktop.

I like the principle of stories, but don’t give as much flexibility as a full-blown web page, so if they make regular pages they are attached with disappear from the index, I think we’ll stop using them.

Has anyone seen the same happen?
Is it meant to do this?

    Hi Damien

If you could share the URL to your story and page we could better assist you here.

Generally speaking stories should not “make regular pages they are attached with disappear from the index”. In fact, we encourage to add stories to pages to enhance the user experience and give them an alternative way of content consumption. So it sounds more like a coincidence to me.

For specific questions about Search and indexing, I recommend consulting the Google Search Central help resources.
