• I have a nonprofit client that sells used books on Amazon (merchant fulfilled–all proceeds are donated to the local library). Currently they only have a link to their Amazon storefront on their website and I was wondering if there was a way to actually display the books to encourage sales and awareness of their shop. They have over a thousand books listed and are hoping to list more. I’m personally new to the store possibilities and capabilities of WordPress and don’t want to suggest something without first understanding it.

I’ve been doing some research and I’m not sure what might be the best way. In fact, it’s confusing me. Is there a way to link their Amazon page to their website? Do I want to use something like WP-Lister? Or set up an Amazon affiliate account? Or something else entirely? The people who manage the store aren’t necessarily tech savvy, so I need something that won’t be too difficult and they’ll see as worth their time. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

  • A great way to do it will be setting up a store using WooCommerce and using the external/affiliate product feature to redirect users to the Amazon store to purchase the books.

The store will look like a regular store with product name, image, etc. but on buy now click, users will be redirected to the amazon product link specified to make a purchase.

WooCommerce also allows to set a custom text for the buy now button, you can set it to something like “Buy now on Amazon”.

Sounds good, but does Amazon have a problem with you using an affiliate link to your own product?

Would I be able to manage inventory in one place? Or would I have to list/unlist it manually from the website whenever a purchase is made from Amazon? The primary product is used books donated to them, so they may or may not have additional copies.
