    Hi @starhorsepax2,

    Sorry to hear about the problem. We’ve fixed an issue where the plugin was caching error messages, so could you update the plugin and let me know whether it resolves the issue for you?

    Many thanks, and we apologize again for the problem.

    Hey guys,

    Sorry for the issue. There’s been a lot of Facebook changes lately. In order to prevent issues, we’d recommend obtaining your own Facebook Access Token. You can do this by following the directions on this page: https://smashballoon.com/custom-facebook-feed/page-token/. It will only work for a page which you are an admin of, but it will prevent any app-related errors from occurring.

    This issue should be resolved by downloading the latest version of the plugin. If you are using the Free version you want to download Ver. 2.6.4 released two days ago and available here. If you are using the PRO version you will want to log into your Smash Balloon user account and download Ver. 3.2.12

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    FYI, I’m using free 2.6.4 and also Pro 3.2.12 and this same error shows on both sites ….

    ==
    Unable to display Facebook posts.
    Error: (#4) Application request limit reached
    Type: OAuthException
    Code: 4
    ==

    I haven’t added a Facebook Access Token (I don’t manage the FB sites) – is it still needed after the 2.6.4 and 3.2.12 updates?

    Hi,
    I am having the same problem as sallymoos above using the free version 2.6.4.

    Unable to display Facebook posts.
    Error: (#4) Application request limit reached
    Type: OAuthException
    Code: 4

    I also have not added the Facebook Access Token because I do not manage the FB site. Is it necessary to obtain and access token even if I do not manage the FB site?

    Hey guys,

    Unfortunately, due to Facebook reducing the API rate limit the tokens built into our plugin are hitting their temporary API connection limit. This is partly due to other plugin developers stealing the tokens from the plugin and using it in their own plugin unfortunately. The only way around this right now is to use a Page Access Token – however this will only work if you’re an admin of the Facebook page. If you’re not, then there are two options:

    1) Wait until Facebook approves our app submission – this should resolve these issues permanently. They’re currently taking a very long time to review submissions due to closing the app review process and then opening it last month and requiring all developers to submit apps for re-review. We’re hoping it won’t be more than a few more weeks.

    2) Use the Facebook “Page plugin” widget instead as a temporary workaround.

    We apologize for the issue and any inconvenience caused. It’s a difficult and frustrating time right now dealing with all of the Facebook changes and having to wait a very long time for them to review submissions. I know it’s frustrating, but please bear with us and hopefully these issues will be resolved soon!

    Hey guys,

    This issue should now be resolve and it’s now possible to display posts from other Facebook pages that you’re not the admin of again. Just update the plugin to v2.7 and use the blue “Login and get my Access Token” button that we added to the plugin to get a token you can use to power the plugin again.
