    Hi,
I cannot create pages. It has been off and on. But not this time so far.

If I try to create a new page from the WordPress admin menu across the top, it now takes me to the Advanced Page Manager site pages management. On that page I do all the steps, hit “Done” and nothing at all happens. A few minutes ago I could create a new page the usual way in WP – without routing to the AMP page.

I must disable Advanced Page Manager. I need to work. I can activate it if you need me to.

Thank you for a great plugin

The plugin hasn’t been updated in a couple of months. Was it working for you in the last 2 months?

There may be a new conflict with a plugin or theme. Have added or upgraded any recently? If so I can try to reproduce your set up.

It has recently stopped working. I have many many plugins, it will be difficult to reproduce my setup. Plus I often try different plugins. I have 2 multisite installs. I can activate your plugin on some other sites, see if there are any issues.

toni-esl.com This is the main site of one multisite install. It has many pages, I was using the plugin on it.

I will think about how to get you some answers, my head is clogged up right now.

I had the same problem. To create a page, deactivate Advanced Page Manager, and you can use the normal methods to create the new page. Then reactive APM.

It’s a little kludgy to do it that way. But until they fix it, that’s what you have to do. Since I’m adding pages to sites all the time, I’m just deactivating it, and waiting for a fix before using it again. But, it sure screws up the great organization this plugin allows.

Ah, it is not just me. I can’t help them figure it out because I have too many plugins.

Sorry folks. I just can’t reproduce this problem. Even this morning I was able to create a page without having to do anything special. It will require some debugging or a methodical disabling of other plugins on a site where the plugin isn’t working to figure out what’s going on.

I have it enabled on 2 other sites in my MultiSite. I will look at them and let you know if there is a problem.

Problem on another subsite. Cannot use the Add button in the Plugin Add Page Menu or via WP Add Page. Nothing happens.

One of my subsites has no content yet and only has network plugins activated, and yours. Cannot create pages.

If you would like to access my network I do not mind. Let me know?

Marios: Though I appreciate your comment, Advanced Page Manager is the one that I have to disable to get standard WordPress Add Page function to work. You’re first out in the debug process to get the function back. I run your plugin on a few sites, as it’s really nice for what it does. The sites have a fairly standard set of plugins, with a few variable ones. APM has the same issues on all the sites when active. I’ll send you a list of the plugins if you want to test with them.

    @huntergatherer and @toni

I believe I misread the issue described in this thread. I thought you two were unable to create new pages from within APM screen.

Instead, it sounds like you’re just wondering why you can’t create pages using the “normal” WordPress process. Is that correct?

The plugin takes over control of the page creation process. The expectation is that you’ll want to create a page within the hierarchy at the time of creation. So you’d use the Add New button in the tree to add page where you want it. Of course, if you change your mind you can move it later.

I also see that you said you were until recently able to create pages “normally”. This is actually unusual as you shouldn’t have been able to do so. And this isn’t new. If you view the video on this plugins homepage you can see that from the very beginning access the Pages section on the left took you to the APM screen. And the Add New option isn’t shown.

Allowing the creation of a page outside of the APM’s control could result in inconsistencies between the APM tree and WordPress.

Lastly, out of curiousity why do you need or want to create pages the standard way if you’re otherwise using the APM plugin?

No Marios. You misread the latest messages.

The only time there is a problem adding new pages is when APM is activated. There is no button to Add New Page in the Add Page menu.

So for me, the words “normal” or “normally” mean when APM is deactivated and WordPress is in its original state.

So, when I have APM active, and need to add a new page, APM blocks the Add Page button from appearing. It’s GONE. Then I deactivate APM, and can use the WordPress Page controls to add the page. Once it’s added, I can reactivate APM to get the functions of APM applied to the new page (and previously added pages).

I hope this clarifies things. And, once again, overall you have the best page management and tree heirarchy plugin. It’s a little kludgy to use this workaround.

@huntergatherer Yes, the Add Page button is gone by design. It’s not a bug. It’s always been that way. If you watch the video, 8 seconds in you can see the Pages menu section expanded and in there you’ll see that there is no Add Page option.

    Oh dear, I am confused.

There is a button at the bottom of the side bar/box that comes up to add the page title, etc. there is an “Add” button.
    – Referring to #7 of your screen shots.

    Nothing happens. So…

I will check out the video.

Update: I tried again on my empty subsite and it worked!

Maybe it is the browser or device I was using? The Add page box overlapped with the page list – on my old laptop and iPad I think. The “Add” button was under the near by pages in the list.

I do not know what happened. But it works there, so any issue on myother sites will be due to a conflict from some crappy plugin.

Thank you for your patience and a great plugin.
    Cheers!

@toni I’m confused too 🙂 I think maybe you’re describing a different issue than HunterGatherer, but I thought they were the same so I kept changing my path based on the feedback.

Anyway, I think I understand YOUR issue although I don’t know why it’s happening.

I’d like to take you up on your offer to log into one of your empty subsites. Don’t share any information in this forum. Instead, leave a comment on this page and I’ll email you directly.

    I am magically confusing!

I am going to the comments on the link you posted right now.
I will give you a different email than this WP account one.
