Hi I’ve been using you’re great plugin for awhile now and it’s been working great until yesterday when I did the plugin update it stopped rotating. the tweets are located on the right hand side. Thanks.

    the short code I’m using is [rotatingtweets screen_name=’TonisNightOut’ official_format = ‘1’ exclude_replies = ‘1’ links_in_new_window = ‘1’ tweet_count=’15’ timeout=’5000′]

    and the site is http://tonisnightout.com

    Many thanks.

Did you change anything else at the same time?

The reason I ask is that it also looks like YouTube with Fancy Zoom is loading its own (old – from 2009!) copy of JQuery – which is breaking various scripts including Rotating Tweets. (It’s a very seriously off-standard plug-in in this respect).

Most strangely, it’s breaking bits of Rotating Tweets that haven’t changed between versions!

Version 1 of Rotating Tweets uses older code, so does Rotating Tweets start working again if you switch to version 1 of the JavaScript on the settings page?

    Hi Martin,
Thanks for your reply. No, I haven’t changed anything else besides updating to the newest version of WordPress… Also, I just switched to version 1 on the settings page and it still doesn’t scroll. 🙁

Which version did you upgrade from? It’s possible that WordPress has some new JavaScript in it that is breaking.

Currently it looks like the JavaScript is so broken (by YouTube with Fancy Zoom) that the Rotating Tweets code never gets to run.

What happens if you switch off YouTube with Fancy Zoom?

    I upgraded from 4.1 to 4.1.1 only
When I deactivate the fancy zoom and take out the function call from the side bar the tweet completely disappears.

    <div class=”widget widget_video”><?php g_ywfz_show($videoid = 0); ?></div>

hmm ok now the tweets show up and rotate without the function call and fancy youtube. But now the TV with my promo videos don’t work. 🙁 Clearly there is a conflict. Any suggestion?

For long term sustainability, it probably makes sense to find a new YouTube plug-in unless Fancy YouTube is brought up to modern standards.

WP Video Lightbox seems to get good reviews – although I’ve not used it myself. There’s more detail about it here. Does that work for you?

    They have an auto-thumbnail function:

    [video_lightbox_youtube video_id="G7z74BvLWUg" width="640" height="480" auto_thumb="1"]

    or presumably

    <div class="widget widget_video"><?php echo do_shortcode('[video_lightbox_youtube video_id="G7z74BvLWUg" width="640" height="480" auto_thumb="1"]'); ?></div>

I will try that! Thank you Martin. Keep up the great work! 🙂

I got it working to display one video, however I can’t seem to find a way to play more than that either as loading a playlist and hitting next or to load random from a playlist as fancy youtube did. However, rotating tweets is still working with this plugin.

Interestingly(!) several YouTube players may be about to break because YouTube is deprecating everything apart from iFrame based YouTube players.

It may be easier to get the effect you want with something like Easy FancyBox.

Ugh, what a pain. I hope it doesn’t affect me too much. I will definitely give the fancy box option a try. Thank you for your help Martin! It’s much appreciated. 🙂
