Hi @anarchoi
Those requests are legitimate requests. We have recently changed how sync works so that each update starts a new request. That being said, there should not be nearly as many of those as you are receiving.
Could you please post your site URL here so that we can have a look?
If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.
Thanks!
Can you please explain how sending so many spawn-sync requests (sometimes 10 per minute) is normal behavior for a plugin that we use ONLY for infinite scroll and sitemap? This doesn’t make any sense to me and this is very frustrating that there is no option to disable those requests
Jetpack is simply not worth slowing down the server just for infinite scroll and sitemap. I wish we could just completely get rid of it but unfortunately, Baskerville requires Jetpack for infinite scroll
Hello,
As Bruce said, while the calls are legitimate, it’s puzzling that there are so many happening. If we can get your site’s URL (either through here or the link he mentioned), we can take a look for clues as to why this is going on with this kind of volume. Thanks!
Past that, you are definitely welcome to disable any feature in Jetpack other than the Sitemap and Infinite Scroll to cut down on requests in general.
The calls supposedly are “legitimate” but none of you guys could even explain what is the purpose and why it is required to make such requests just for sitemap and infinite scroll.
There are absolutely ZERO valid reasons to make these calls just for a sitemap and infinite scroll, and as a programmer, YOU KNOW IT.
As I have already mentioned, ALL jetpack modules and features are disabled except the sitemap and infinite scroll. ALL.
The fact is Jetpack is garbage filled with bloatware.
Thanks for the completely useless support. Our #1 priority is now to completely disable Jetpack on the 30+ websites we are hosting.
Winston,
Jetpack uses various syncs to make sure that your site/Jetpack settings are working and that your content is displaying properly. Basically, we’re making sure that your site on the front-end matches what we detect in your back-end.
We are not programmers here in this forum – We are just support for the plugin.
That said, we’ll still be happy to look into this for you. If needed, we can talk to our developers (if we end up completely completely stumped).
However, we can’t just guess on this – We would need to be able to look at your site for possible causes.
Hey @anarchoi,
Since it’s been more than a week since we’ve heard from you, I’m going to mark this thread as Resolved. If you still need help, please feel free to reach back out here and mark the thread as not resolved
.
Thanks!
