I would like to renew the plea to make the notification email controls more granular. I do not consider plugin updates to be “critical problems” in need of my immediate attention. Inclusion in the weekly summary would be enough. This is the only thing I ever get emails about from my sites, so consequently I always disable that option. I don’t know what else I might miss, but the emails are too annoying. I’m not going to accept 50 emails a day, every day that there’s a plugin update on one of the sites I maintain.

  • We actually addressed this a few updates ago, based on feedback from users.

Currently, there are two types of alerts for plugins. If a plugin has a known vulnerability, it gets a critical label, otherwise, it’s a warning. The check boxes for critical & warning emails should control those (though there’s no way to say “send me warnings for other types of scan results, but no warnings for plugin updates.”) So disable warnings if you do not wish to see plugin update messages that don’t concern a vulnerability. If you want to also ignore vulnerable plugin alerts then you might keep a url for site cleanings handy since you will eventually need it. 🙂

Thanks! I haven’t revisited the settings in ages and didn’t know about that distinction.
