Stop new pages appearing as links on main page (buddypress)

Hi,
I’m in the process of setting up a new Buddypress social network/language learning website. A problem i’ve had is that, when I create a new page for my website (within Dashboard/Pages/Add New) it adds itself as one of the main links (i.e. along with Groups, Home etc). I’ve tried making it a child page of another but this didn’t stop it. Essentially, I just want a random page which I can link to within Buddypress, but without it being explicitly visible of its own accord.
