Stop Login Redirection, Protect Site

I wanted to change the slug for my login page to prevent people from spamming my site with logins, so I did, but now when I type in mysite.com/login it redirects me to the new login page. This completely defeats the purpose of changing the login url. I am using theme my login. I don’t know if its the plugin thats doing this or wordpress. Also if someone tries to go to an admin page and they aren’t logged in it shows them a link to the login page or redirects them to it. Have any idea how to fix this? Any help is appreciated.
