Still struggling with automatic plugin upgrade…

    I keep getting various errors when trying to upgrade plugins automatically.

    My site is hosted with Servage and on their advice I have changed line 37 of /wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php to default to port 2121 instead of 21.
    FWIW when attempting an upgrade a new directory <mysite.com> is created within my WP directory and under that a new WordPress directory. It seems part of the directory structure is replicated within my WP dir…

    I had the same problem recently. It’s not dependent on the google xml upgrade but on all automated plugin upgrades.
    Does anyone have an idea how to eliminate this problem?

    Just want to confirm that this problem happens with all plugins… I was just using Google XML as an example…

    About the same here. In previous versions with the WP core plugin-upgrade I got just a error message, now in 2.6 the message sais: “Unable to locate WordPress Plugin directory.”

    An Upgrade plugin also results in an error. And the permissions are set correct.

    I host the sites on my own office with MAMB.

    Same problem here. Automatic updates work fine in WP 2.5, then in WP 2.6 they are gone. The 2.6 version is another WP installation on another hoster, but I doubt that the hoster causes the problem.

    Is there a patch or similar for 2.6? Any suggestions how to track down this bug? Is there a wordpress system log stored somewhere?

    I finally sorted out my “Unable to locate WordPress Plugin directory” problem.

    In my case, the issues was that the FTP server (vsFTP) was configured to prevent write operations (such as the creation of a temporary directory) used by the upgrader.

    I logged in as the user whose home directory was where WP is installed (in ~/wordpress) — all was well. No other special configurations were needed.

    I can’t get the auto upgrade to work either. I get this error “Unable to locate WordPress Plugin directory.” I use this (example) info:

    hostname: http://ftp.host.com
    username: ftp-user
    password: xxxxxxx

    and I was wondering if I need to add some /folders/ to the hostname or something, since my wordpress is in a folder called /wp/…
    does anyone know?
