Still looking for RANDOM images in widget slideshow

  • Searched the forums multiple times, maybe I’m missing it…

What code do we add (and where) to cause the NEXTGEN SLIDESHOW WIDGET to show RANDOM instead of sequential images?

Seems like a popular request that should be fairly easy for some guru out there. 🙂

  • My slideshow show random without code or options…

Whatever slideshow you’re using, the feature you’re looking for is probably called “Shuffle”.

If you haven’t installed a slideshow tool, you’re probably using the default WordPress gallery. See the “orderby” option and its random setting. http://codex.wordpress.org/Gallery_Shortcode

I assume you’re using the JW Image Rotator, which is suggested for NEXTGEN Gallery. Look on the JW Rotator page under Documentation and you’ll see a link to “Supported Flashvars”. One of the options is Shuffle. http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-image-rotator/

thanks for your feedback RoamFree – I’ll check it out…

    Any updates?

This concerns the NextGen Slideshow *Widget*, not the slideshow in-page. Even with the “shuffle” option checked in the regular Slideshow tabbed, the widget still starts the same sequence.
