• I have a problem where my colleague and I were developing different parts of our WordPress site and I created a Sticky Post that contained a Poll. My colleague was removing old test posts and deleted the post that was sticky and contained the poll. He also emptied the trash. We are now stuck (no pun intended) with a sticky post that we cannot remove from our posts page – any ideas?

We have tried creating a new static front page and a speerate blog page and assigning all posts to that, deleting all posts – still the sticky is around?

    All help greatfully received!

    Hello!

Fresh eyes and a fresh brain this morning and we attacked the problem from the back end. Found the post in the wp_posts table in MySQL and deleted. Page cleared of problem and issue resolved although I hate not knowing what the cause of the issue was….but that’s just me.

If you uncheck the “stick this post to the front page” in the Visibility section of the Publish module, then if it happens again, deactivate all plugins, and clear your browser cache.

Thanks for your reply but that’s my point and the cause of the problem. My colleague deleted the post from the page so we couldn’t uncheck the option to “un-stick” the post. I’d thought about restoring it from “trash” but he’d cleared that too. I’d cleared the cache and de-activated and re-activated plugins but it was still appearing as a sticky at the top of the page so….logged into MySQL and removed it, just wondered if there was a way to get rid if it through the application UI?

Just wrote a sticky post and it displayed.

Then moved it to trash and it did not display.

Then accessing the Trash posts in the UI, and permanently deleting caused it and it inherit record to be removed from the wp_posts table.

I did not test with ‘having a Poll’ so wonder if that was the cause of your problem?
