anyway to have a post stay at the top of the list. Similar to a sticky post on a forum.

Judging by other messages concerning this issue - that plug-in requires a post you want to ALWAYS be at the top of a blog to be made an "announcement".

It would seem to me that something as simple as this would be built into WP and selected each time one writes a post. Searching for the subject shows in almost every case the issue of stickys has not be resolved. Is anything being done to rectify this situation? Perhaps a simple patch so we don't have to go through the stress of updating our software version and the intendant difficulties with our themes, etc?

    1. What else would "sticky" mean...?
    2. Your ALWAYS in this case means until you unclick it.
    3. Did you install it or... just talking?

With this plugin the sticky "issue" is resolved. Other, older plugins stopped working in newer WP versions.

    So, what is the question?
Updating your software version (if you refer to WP) has nothing to do with sticky.

Well - this is the kind of reply I expected and why I rarely bother coming here.

"What else would sticky mean", you ask? A regular message one would like to keep at the top of his posts for whatever reason. As others in the threads I searched for indicated, nowhere in the documentation for the plug-in does it say that an "announcement" is what the plug-in keeps at the top. A "sticky", as in every other software, message forum, etc is a regular message that one wants to keep in view for any number of reasons. NOT an "announcement", which semantically is something totally different. So you second point that the issue is "resolved" is - as others have said - NOT resolved at all.

And no - I have NOT installed it, because of previous threads on the subject that point out it is rife with bugs and doesn't always work. So yeah - i am "just talking". Or is that not allowed?

Updating the WP version most certainly does have something to do with the issue if the plug-in only works with certain versions. I did not investigate that far for the reasons already pointed out - that many who have tried it are unsatisfied with it and think - as I do - that this should be a simple process built in to the editor to begin with.

My "question" was clearly stated. If you are unable to see that, I have no wonder why it hasn't been incorporated by default.

Don't bother responding with another smarmy post. Consider my account cancelled.
