    Hello,

I ‘ve just updated the business directory pluggin. I like the new features a lot.

However it seems that I cannnot use the BD-Featured Listings widget like i used to. You see there are only free listings on the site and just some that we named “sticky” in the past for promotional reasons. So we projected those promo-sticky listings in the footer.

In the present version of BD I cannot enable widget in the footer displaying sticky listings, while i could before.

I do not wan to add paid listings, but I’d like to be able to project some of them as sticky/featured, like i did before.

    Is there a work around?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

++ i find out that when i try to place a new listing, although I’ve inserted the business genre, it clears it ou when i try to submit the listing and says it’s required to select a genre.

    thanks

    Hi @nikfot,

Sorry that you ran into issues here!

With BD 5.0, we added featured listings as an attribute into a fee plan which makes it much easier to manage the listings in other ways (upgrades, downgrades, renewals, etc). However, that does mean it doesn’t work like it used to.

But you can “mimic” it by doing the following:
    – Activate Paid mode for your directory (yes, I know you want free! Stay with me here…)
    – Create ONE fee plan that has “featured listings” set and is for 0.00
    – Create ONE fee plan that does not have featured and is also set for 0.00

Now you can assign the “featured” plan to your featured listings. After doing that, you can also DISABLE it so it’s not publicly available to others just picking one…

    Does that make more sense?

Also, regarding genre, yes, that is required. Custom Post Types in WP require two things: a title and a category. That’s why you have to provide it. We didn’t enforce that before but it caused issues and now we do.

Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.

    Hello,

thanx for the quick response. I did all the above and its ok. One last question. I couldn’t find a way to change the plan of the listings i migrated from the past version.
Should I insert them from scratch or I just do it the wrong way?

    Glad to hear it!

Each listing can be editing to be assigned to a (new) fee plan, no problem. There’s no easy bulk operation today, but you can do each listing under Directory->Directory, click Edit on the listing and look in the upper right corner.

Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
