Support » Plugin: WooCommerce PayPal Payments » Stay away from this until they fix it. Cost me lots in lost sales

  • Really poor that something as widespread as Paypal can’t even get a simple plugin right. I started noticing a massive increase in orders in “Pending Payment” but testing was working for me. A customer reported that Paypal wasn’t loading and they couldn’t finish the payment. I’ve contacted support and have been advised that Paypal knows about this + other issues but no plan on fixing it…

  • The plugin is developed by WooCommerce not PayPal, but interesting that you’ve had several “Pending Payment” issues. We have seen the same on our side and were advised by a contact at PayPal that the 1.4.0 release would resole this. Still seems to be an issue.

From your support ticket, is WooCommerce saying the issue is on PayPal’s side? Are you able to quote some of the reply please?

    Hi @twyvel & @alexholsgrove,

Our recent update 1.4.0 resolved some issues that were reported and could result in more orders than usual remaining on “pending payment”. There was definitely never “no plan on fixing” issues that were reported to us, so I am not sure where you got that information from.
There were some issues on PayPal’s end that should be resolved by now. I’m not sure which support you reached out to, but we are glad to assist with eventual plugin-related setup issues.
The regular PayPal support may not be able to do much about plugin-specific issues or conflicts as the plugin is developed in collaboration between WooCommerce, Inpsyde, with PayPal as a partner.

If you face any difficulties with the latest plugin version 1.4.0, I suggest opening either a support thread or a support ticket so we can help you out as fast as possible since this review forum is not monitored for support:

    Kind regards,

    Hi Niklas,

Thanks for your response. I’ve commented here after seeing @twyvel had similar “payment pending” orders, but will raise a support ticket with our specific issues.

To add a little more information from our side, we were told by an Integration Engineer at PayPal that the issues would be fixed in the 1.4.0 release. We have now enabled logging via the plugin and are seeing the following error for each of the “Payment Pending” orders:

WARNING Failed to capture order. PayPal API response: [UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation.

As I said, I’ll raise a ticket to discuss the details further.
