Hi Graham,
I opened your site and as far as I can see everthing is OK.
Tag Assistant shows the GTM container that has one GA tag: UA-48530657-2
Cheers,
Thomas
I know, that’s what’s so confusing. But Google Analytics is telling me that the tracking code isn’t installed. Everything seems OK but Google Analytics doesn’t like it for some reason and I have no idea why. I have added the required PHP code right after the <body> tag but no luck.
When did you begin tracking with GA?
If just now, it takes about 24-48 hours for the system to detect tracking.
What do you see in the real time stats in GA?
If it usually takes 24-48 hours I’ll leave it and wait. I was expecting a quick result and for tracking to be detected immediately – or maybe I’m getting confused with the webmaster tools meta tags. I’ll look again in a couple of days. Thanks Tomi.
Stats are going to be showing up in the coming hours. The “tracking installed” indicator however needs more time 🙂
If I were you I would check the real time reports now. If there are hits while you navigate on the site on another tab, everything should be fine.
There are no hits shown at the moment so I’ll leave it for while and try later on. I think I’ve been playing too much and not letting Analytics get a grip on things. I’ll report back tomorrow.
Hi Graham,
Is this issue still present?
Is your GA now working as expected?
Cheers,
Thomas
Hi Thomas, yes, it’s all fine. The time delay in Google Analytics detecting the tracking code was the issue – I’m just impatient. I guess the lesson here is to trust the Google Tag Assistant – if that says everything is installed and working then you just have to trust it and wait. Graham
