    Hi,

I am facing an issue that is surely related to this reported issue: https://jetpack.com/support/wordpress-com-stats/missing-stats/.

A couple of days ago my ISP had an outage on the server where I have hosted my site http://generation2004.eu/.

During the outage I was offered to have the site temporarily restored on a different server. I agreed and when the temporary site was setup from a November backup I tried to restore a weekly backup that I keep (using Updraft plugin) but I did a mistake and instead of restoring the backup from this site I restored the backup from its staging site (also publicly available here: https://staging.generation2004.eu/.

When the server was fully restored a few hours later from a nightly server backup, all the sites were back to their original form. Everything is working correctly except for the stats… Now, the stats history from generation2004.eu displays in the staging site and the staging site stats displays in the production generation2000.eu site.

I never tried to restore the staging site during the offer to temporarily restore the site in another server.

Is there any way I can fix this from my side? Or, as indicated in the article I listed at the top of this message does this need intervention from Jetpack support?

    Thank you for any help!

    Fabrício

    Hi Fabrício

I’ve fixed the mixup between the sites and restored the stats for you.

If you reconnect Jetpack now on https://generation2004.eu/ you should be all set.

If you want to use Jetpack on a staging site, we recommend using Staging Mode to avoid this kind of issue:

    Hope that helps!

    Dear Dan,

Thank you so much for saving the day.
    I just activated staging mode.
But I think the problem was that I restores the wrong backup (from the staging server) in the production domain… :-/
Actually when I created the staging server a couple of months back, I forgot that it shouldn’t be backed up and I didn’t disable the backup plugin and it was backing up to the same location as the production server… When I went for the most recent backup I picked the wrong file because I didn’t even realise it was the wrong one until it was too late. Lesson learned… the hard way…

    Thanks a million once again!

Ouch, I’m sorry to hear that – wish we could do something for you! I’m glad to hear that all in all you’re all set again as far as Jetpack is concerned, which is good news 😉

I’m going to mark this thread as solved. If you have any further questions or need some more help, you’re welcome to open another thread here. Cheers!
