# stats plugin not working

 * I am a very new newbie and (I think) installed WordPress.com stats plugin but
   it is not working. Installed several days ago and still no stats.
 * So, I went to help and it says:
 * What if the stats don’t start showing up? Do I need anything special in my theme?
 * **Yes, your theme must have a call to  at the very bottom right before the  tag.**
 * I don’t understand what this means?

 * if you are still stumped, this is the code that needs to be entered on your theme.
 * `<?php wp_footer(); ?>`
 * place that code at the very bottom right before the </body> tag.
