Hi, our jetpack stats are massively wrong every day. If we look at our Google analytics, they show 1/5 of the traffic jetpack does

    Hello, there.

Jetpack stats pull and display information in different ways than other products such as Google Analytics, so stats not matching up with another plugin or site’s analysis is totally normal.

We have more info specifically about how Jetpack collects stats here: https://jetpack.com/support/wordpress-com-stats/

In other words, this is to be expected, to most degrees.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Surely google analytics is more accurate than jetpack?

I can understand maybe a 10% difference, but Jetpack shows in the thousands, google analytics shows in the hundreds. How can they be so different?

To be expected by an average of 1700-2000 difference a day?

    Hi @hugolongman,

Without having your site’s URL, it’s hard to speculate. Any chance our stats JavaScript is duplicated in your source? You can CMD-F for blog: in your source to see.

Do you have multiple authors on your site? Any chance you’ve opted into having visits by registered users tracked? Typically, they’re excluded, but this can be toggled on under Site Stats > Configure in your WP Admin. Here’s a screenshot:

I realize that this is still not a likely explanation for such a huge discrepancy, but like I mentioned above, without a URL we can’t do much targeted troubleshooting. Can you share with us?

    Cheers!

I doubt it, we use the same theme and plugins on several sites and only a handful have this problem.

Only 1 author, the site is hardly touched. Maybe once a week if that.

How can I share the URL? I don’t really want to do it on a public forum

    Thanks

    Hi there

Another factor is ad-blockers. Some of them may block Google’s tracking script, but not ours, which would explain why we are showing more stats. With the privacy regulations in place these days, it can be hard to get truly accurate stats, especially across multiple trackers.

If you’d like to send us your URL privately, you can contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.

    Thanks!

    Hey there, @hugolongman,

Great, we’ll get back to you on this as soon as possible!

I’m going to mark this thread as solved for now then.
