 * I publish a new post every week. Yesterday I was looking at the daily stats and
   made a note of the of the number of visits to the recent ones. Today I looked
   again and found that the one for four days ago had, overnight, jumped to several
   more visits! How can this happen, anyone?

 * by people visiting the post. Search engines can take a bit of time to index your
   content. Once they do, people can find your content more easily.
 * Or someone liked the post and shared a link.
 * Or, pure luck.
 * Its hard to tell why the numbers jump. I have days where a random post that doesn’t
   seem all that interesting to me gets 500 hits. (I normally only get about 300
   a day to my whole site)
