• Hi! I want to get statistX for my blog. In the sign up form there is a field called Counter Value. What is that? How shall I fill that in?

  • Hi! The Counter Value is the initial value for your counter. You may leave it blank to start counting form 0 (zero); or enter any value (a guess, how many visitors did you have until the moment, you’re adding the widget). The value entered here won’t be considered in statistX traffic analysis. Most people don’t want to show on their page that they had only 3 or 40 visitors, in this case you may want to enter an initial value, let’s say 100 or 1000.

Ok, thanks. And can I keep the counter private?

I guess I should just log in my statistX account to check my blog’s stats without adding the widget to the blog…

Hi Novella! Yes, you can keep your counter private. Just *password protect your statistX. If you would like to hide the numbers, select one of the (stealth mode) counters. For the above, log into your statistx.com account (Counter Options), make the changes and press Modify.

You need the widget on your blog to keep track of visits/stats. Without adding the widget to the blog, there is no way to keep track of visitors. If you make the above changes, the widget changes itself, you don’t need to add or edit it again.

*when logging into a password protected account, first select “Counter Options” (you might be asked for your User/Pass again) than you will be able to change/view the Counter Options, Password, View Site Statistics and detailed Statistics, Retrieve Counter Code

Hi Yatko! Thank you for your great help.

I’m following the procedure described at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/statistx/
However I’m not sure about “insert your statistX ID in the widget parameters”. I have my ID, but what/where are the widget parameters?

Also, the installation procedure says “Upload statistx.php to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory”.
Does it have to do with the “counter code”?

Never mind the second part of my question. I finally managed. But the “insert your statistX ID in the widget parameters” is still unclear…can you help?

Hi Novella, when you signed up at http://www.statistx.com/signup.php, at the end you got a screen with your statistX ID and the statistX code that you need to insert into your site. If you are using the WordPress plugin, you don’t need the code just your ID. it is an XXXX number. Just copy and paste that number into your widget, in the statistX ID field.

If you don’t have that ID, just log into your ststistX account and click on “View Site Statistics”. Just see the URL: http://www.statistx.com/stats.php?i=XXXX. XXXX is your ID.

Thank you Yatko, I did have the ID, just could not find where I was supposed to put it! Now it’s all done!

Hey Yatko, I have finally managed to have my StatistX running. The trouble now is that when I log in in my StatistX account I can see the main page, but if I click on view visitor technology or detailed analysis or view all, the system just brings me back to the login page. Is there a problem with the site or, as usual, with me?

    Hi Novella,

I am having trouble getting StaistX to work in WP. I downloaded it into the Available Widgets and then dragged it into the Sidebar (mine is called Sidebar 1), inserted the StatistX ID, and saved. I added StatistX to my Plug-ins and Activated it.

The web counter doesn’t show up on my website, and when I go in my account at StatistX.com, there is no activity reported. I filled everything out except Ban IP and I have a counter that is not Stealth Mode.

I am using WordPress as a CMS, so I have static pages. I took a theme (Star Ocean 1.2) and modified it to go from 2 columns to 1.

Do you have any idea regarding what I am doing wrong? Could Sidebar 1 not be picked up by the Theme?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I should have mentioned that I am using the most recent version of WordPress.

    should change to
    <script type="text/javascript">

as for xhtml validation of wordpress those language=js is not useable anymore.

I tried deactivating and reactivating, but still nothing

Where does the StatistX counter show up on the WordPress page? I am using WordPress for a content management web site. Should it show at the bottom of each page on the web site or in the sidebar(which I don’t have)?

    Thanks.
