  • I am currently in the process of leaving my existing web host (CF dynamic not php) and static pages (natureshealing.info) and converting my 7 year old site to a new web host with intensions of using word press. I’m not sure how much I will lose or gain regarding SEO. I’m hoping simply pointing my domain name to the new site host/website will maintain some history SE-wise.

I am using “HTML Import 2” to convert my site. I have concerns about how best to set up the new site structure / permalinks / page titles for best SEO. Is it better to try to emulate the old site file names or go with the file names basd on the slug naming which I find might be longer and more informative for SE’s. i.e. old site page – domainname/diet.htm, new wp name domainname/diet-therapy-counseling/.

When I initially designed my old site, right or wrong, I thought the following tags were important for SEO – <title>, webpage name, <H1>. I get the sense metadata is no longer as relavent. If so what parts of WP pages and post need to be massaged for SEO? I want to convert to WP because I believe I will more easily stay up to date with the latest web design concerns regarding specifically SEO and want to only deal with minimal web design needs. I’m hoping I’m making a good choice with this move and I need some pointers what specifics I need to look at regarding SEO and wp.
