 * Is there any possibilty that WordPress is able to statically render (spit out
HTML files) sites? A good example is MovableType’s rendering which generates
   URLs like [http://mezzoblue.com/archives/2003/12/12/accessible_i/](http://mezzoblue.com/archives/2003/12/12/accessible_i/)
and the like. (What I am after is really the URLs, and secondly the server load
   being kept low)
If there is no functionality as described above, is the plugin
API (is there one?) wide enough to do this?

 * And the URIs are even nicer than the one you linked. 🙂

 * So WordPress doesn’t have static rendering then?

 * WordPress generates pages dynamically. The URI’s are abstracts. Correct me if
I’m wrong but the only sites left on the net which are static are AOL users’
homepages and MovableType users’ weblogs. 🙂

 * The whole idea of WP is that it doesn’t create static pages, rather it uses PHP
to dynamically create pages on-the-fly. Now, if you want to save static pages
the quick-and-dirty way, you can view a normal page in the browser, save the
page as *.html and name it, upload the file, and you now have a static page.
