Static Pages Problem

  • Alright, so I downloaded this Transmission theme, downloaded, and installed it. Everything went fine, but, now I’m having a problem.

    http://www.themelab.com/images/transmission.jpg

    As you can see, at the top, is a blog post. So, if you post a new post, it goes right at the top, the rest get bumped to the bottom. Under the first post, is a flickr plugin, and under that, the rest of the older blog posts.

    So, what I want, is ONE post to be static at the top, and if I enter a new post, it goes at the bottom, whatever. Regardless, I just want one blog post to stay at the top.

    I’ve tried putting a post in, and I did that, but on the front page, there are NO links, and if I add in breaks
    they don’t show up. I can edit the text, but, that’s it. The front page post doesn’t have text.

    So, any ideas? How would I make it static and make it work?

    Thanks!

  • You can code that in a template file but a plugin might be easier.

    Try:

    Okay, to get links working on the top post find the following:

    <?php echo strip_tags(get_the_excerpt(), '<a><strong>'); ?>

    And replace with just

    <?php the_content('Read more...'); ?>

    You’ll probably need to have a <!--more--> tag somewhere in there to cut if off if it gets too long.

    Forgot to mention, this is in home.php. You can also code in something static in that file.
