Static Page with Blog can it be Done?

  • David_1

    Hello Friends,
Using a Child style.css for the Twentyten theme.
I am having difficulty getting the BLOG-roll (posts) to appear as they do in the TwentyTen theme.

When I Activate the Twentyten them, they appear on the Home: page, (posts) page as they should.
When I Activate my Twentyten Child theme, they do not appear.

I am using a ‘static-page’ for the Child style but the client wants to have his latest posts on this static Home page.

    Site: http://i-brand.ca/testsite/
If there is anyone who can assist or offer some suggestions, I would be really thankful!

    it looks like you are using a static front page in your site;
undo this and you should have the ‘posts page’ on the front.

if you need what you have now plus the posts on the front, consider to create a page template http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Creating_Your_Own_Page_Templates and to add a secondary loop http://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop with a custom query http://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_Query

    Hello alchymyth

Thank you very much for your suggestions and the links.
I would like to make use of the static page that I have as you suggested in your first comment, but when I made a new Template containing:

    Template Name: Home1

I made a copy of the contents of my home page, (the <divs, and html etc.) and called the page testpage, (http://i-brand.ca/testsite/testpage/) I selected the new Home1 as the Template, but when I View the page all I get is my background and the navbar at the top and the test posts with the sidebar.

I must have done something wrong as my Home page has all the <div’s – html and sources to my child css. But yet for some reason none of it is showing up.

The posts and the sidebar are what I need to have in the area where I currently have text that says, (Page Content) on http://i-brand.ca/testsite/.

It must be something small I have missed, but if you or anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful hearing from you and many thanks in advance for your help. I really appreciate it.
