Static Page Template File?

  • I am in the process of developing a theme that will allow users to use WordPress as a CMS. Things are running smoothly however, I am interested to find out if there is anyway to create template files for static pages? I have looked here, here, and here, and haven’t found any answers. and quite honestly this looks very out of date. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • I’ve been wracking my own brain trying to find the answer myself. Supposedly you can, but nobody will tell me HOW. The “Create a Static Front Page” tutorial is indeed outdated, not to mention jumbled and not explained very well.

there is really good plugin for this

allthough i *believe* that the newer versions of wordpress have the function built in – i’m not sure though because i’m still on 2.09

i’ve used that plugin for a whole bunch of sites though and it works a dream 🙂

(oh, and if you want to create a different template for it just make a new template file and add it to your ‘home’ page via the drop down menu in the ‘page edit’ part of the dashboard)
