    I’ve ran into a problem recently. I want to set one of my sites to use a static page with blog posts underneath. Settings > Reading is set to “A static page”.
    Front page: Main (valid page with text)
    Posts page: Blog (valid empty page)

    WordPress is displaying the first page (Main), but there is nothing under it. I did not set page template to anything in the page named blog as per these instructions.

    This is an empty site for testing purposes. WordPress 3.7.1 was reinstalled this morning,there are no other plugins installed and the theme is default Twenty-Thirteen, but I did try with Twenty-Twelve as well.

    Can this be a server side problem? PhP is 5.3.10-1 (latest), apache, mysql are also updated to most recent version. Please assist.

  • I don’t see any problem in your site. It seems you have posted just a few words that appears on your site. Try posting some more text (random, maybe for testing) and check if that appears below what is posted now.

    Aren’t blog post supposed to be displayed directly under the content from the main page?

    I better draw what I try to accomplish. Here is the pic

    To my understanding, static page with blog posts should work like that, or am I wrong?

    If your site is blog-oriented, you should not opt for static homepage in which case all new posts will appear only in your blog.

    I need to set the combination static page with blog posts underneath. I have couple of blogs that need this option. Is this broken in WP 3.7.1?

    not if you set a static front page.

    you will need to create a custom page template to be used on that page;

    Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. I used the Page of Posts example to customize my code.
