 * I am so freaking frustrated! I want a static page as my front page. I’ve created
   a ‘home’ and a ‘blog’ page. I go to settings>reading, like everyone says to,
   but there absolutely is no option for a static page and no pull down menu like
   I see in all the screenshots. I am fully up to date on everything … WP … plugins…
   themes … everything, but that freaking menu is not there. I am on a Mac running
   10.9.5. Can someone please tell me what the problem is and/or how to go about
   putting a static home page on my site rather than my blog posts, given I don’t
   have that option in the reading section?
 * Thank you in advance,
    Caat

 * Let’s see if I can help you Caat, as this have already occurred to me in the
   past.
 * First thing you have to check is if you have really published these pages, and
   not only saved them as draft. It is necessary to have at least one page/post
   really published in your site, otherwise these menus won’t show up there.
 * So, just access the menu where you can edit each of these pages and make sure
   you click the “Publish” button.
 * Please do so and let me know if this solves the problem.

 * Marcus

 * That did it for me. Thank you sooooo much, Marcus. Now, my second question is:
   I am reworking an existing blog. I want to make it into a fully functional site
   which simply includes my blog as a page link. I created t the home page (what
   I would consider my ‘index’ page on a regular site). I created the ‘blog’ page
   in the interest of following directions to do the static page, but that’s not
   where all of my posts are.
 * They were on the original ‘posts’ page set up as the default by WP, the same
   as since I started the blog some 6 years ago. But that’s not a page that I actually
   created, and when I set the home page as the static front page, it doesn’t give
   me an option to set the blog to the ‘posts’ page where my posts reside. Can you
   tell me how to now link to that posts page, since it was there already? Is that
   possible?
 * Thanks so much again for the info. I was so frustrated knowing I was on the right
   page, over and over again, but not seeing the right thing.
 * Best,
    Caat

 * Hi Caat,
 * I am glad to know that the previous problem solved. 🙂
 * About your new doubt, yes, it is possible to change the page where your posts
   are published.
 * The way to solve this is exactly the same as you did before.
 * You have to be sure that your “Blog” page is really published by clicking in
   the “Publish” button on this page.
 * Then, once this page is really published, it will appear there in the menu Settings
   > Reading , in the option “Posts page” just below the “Front page displays” option.
 * You just set your posts page to be your blog page, save it and it is done.
 * See if this solves and let me know.

 * Yes, it works, Marcus. Thank you!
 * I had tried that once before and it didn’t, but I just realized it was because
   I had a bit of text on the blog page, so that is what showed. I took that text
   off and redid as you said and it works.
 * Thanks so much for your help. I *really* appreciate it. 🙂

 * I am glad it worked Caat. 🙂
 * I wish you become a WordPress addict, just as me and many of our friends here
   at the forum are. 😉

 * Ha! LOL. You just might get your wish. I had been really struggling, but I’ve
   turned the corner. I’ve been working on it all morning and it’s really coming
   together now. I’m sure I’ll be back with more questions, but I just may become
   a convert. 🙂
 * Thanks so much.
    Caat
