  • Have you tried this plugin? How well does it work? Also, what does it need still? It’d be nice to have static pages as a plugin option. Right now, the best method I’ve been able to come up with is described here.

thefreefood: I think with your help and dchaits help we could actually get this to work. Seems like to me this would be one of the most popular plug-ins…it would make our jobs easier (if doing it for work), and get a fully functioning site much quicker. I’m going to work on the method you described tonight and will let you know if I have some questions…which is probably the case.
    Thanks for your help!

yes. I tested it.and it works.
and ,at least,I still need it.
because I want real html files not fake static look.
my goal is like static generation of blosxom.

    or like mt’s static generation.
if you get real html files, then You can use wp for making any pages of
websites that is not only blog pages.
and the files is independent of wp.

The best part of blog-independence is that the pages don’t use the blog software. However, that’s also the worst part of blog-independence. The pages don’t need the software to work, but at the same time they don’t respond to changes in the blog software’s design; you have to go back and edit the static pages by hand.

    ah……well….it is not the point.
using weblog software as static file generator is’nt same as hand writing.
1 one template to asociated many files.
    2 doesn’t need ftp
3 permanent url format independency of software
and Millenium suggested case, you need only “rebuild”.
    doesn’t need edit by hand.
and you can set config to rebuild by every posting hook.
