Support » Fixing WordPress » Static Front Page Works, Blog Page Doesn't

  • I am using the Thesis theme (not sure if that’s relevant, but it may be), and I am trying to set up my website so that my blog is not the page where visitors land when they type my url. I created a blank page called “Blog” and went into Settings –> Reading and activated the radio button on Front Page displays a Static Page with the first drop-down containing Home (for my front page) and Blog (for my posts). I also created a custom menu with Home, About Me, and Blog. My url will take people to my Home page, my About Me page also displays, but the Blog link in the menu takes me to this:
    Index of /blog

    Parent Directory

I have no idea where to go from here. I have used WordPress in the past, but this is the beginning of my current attempt. The last time was about 2 years ago. Thanks!

  • Partly a guess, but I think you have a directory named ‘blog’ and a page with a slug of ‘blog’, so the URL finds the directory first and tries to index it.

Try renaming the page to ‘My Blog’ with the permalink altered to ‘my-blog’. You can then use the Label ‘Blog’ when you add ‘My Blog’ to the menu.
