static Authors Page for WP1.5 with proper rewrite (3 posts)

I have seen a variety of solutions for this, many of which seem outdated and not specifically what I'm looking for.

Here's what I want to do:

I'd like to use the Write Page (/wp-admin/page-new.php) functionality if possible to do this, but uploading a php file would also work for me. [A] Can you put in php code into the Write Page editor?

Any pages I try to make using this feature so far can't be found because they are being effected by the rewrite rules. [B] So, I'd like to know the proper rewrite rule for making static pages work in general, and also for this specific page (once it's written).

[C] I'd like the page to do what the Author page wordpress plugin does*, and I'd use that plugin, but it doesn't appear to work with WP1.5

    * specifically, I'd just like to be able to link to a page which has info about all the registered authors, but hides their email addresses.

Any info (or even threads I couldn't find using search) which answer my questions is much appreciated!

    Thank you

You could create a template that uses the functionality of the plugin, then *assign* that template to your author Page. Here's some information on creating Page templates:

    A Start:
[B] The rewrite rules should work as long as .htaccess is writeable.

[A] By default you can't put PHP in Pages, but you can make custom templates (see above link). There are plugins which let you put PHP in a Page's content (such as James Van Lommel's RunPHP), but you should try to do as much with Templates as you can (it's computationally faster).

[C] You should be able to do something like this with a Page and a Custom Template. See also http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags#Author_tags
