Support » Plugin: Store Locator Plus for WordPress » State Search

  • Hi,

Great plugin, thank you for the regular updates!

My client is requesting an actual state search, so that choosing a state will just turn up all locations within a state on the map, like the one on this page:

The current search mechanism seems to search the specified radius from the center of the state so it turns up locations from adjoining states, in effect it is like a zip code search, just centered on the state.

Is there a way to do an actual state search as shown? If not, is this a feature you would add for a fee?

    Thank you!

The search function is documented here:

You can fake it using Pro Pack tags or the tagalong categories system. Both are add-on packs. You can find them here:

For true discrete searches it will require notable modification. 3-4 days of coding time, 2-3 weeks to deliver. Customization fees are listed on the site:

Version 0.2 of Tagalong provides an interface on the Manage Locations admin page that allows you to assign categories to multiple locations at one time. Do you have a screen grab of this feature? Also just to confirm, I think what you are suggesting is to use this to create a category for each state and then assign the locations to a specific state. However I don’t see any info on the Tagalong page regarding how you search for a tag. Does it add a drop down to the search like tags do or does it just change the output on the map but is not a searchable item? I have the Pro Pack so I assume I could do the same thing with tags, and in that case I know I can create a drop down on the search page.

You can do the same thing with Pro Pack with the tags feature & using the pulldown menu. Not a great solution, but that is where the plugin is at right now.
