I installed Stat Traq under version 2.32, and continue to use it now under 2.5. My problems with it have existed on both versions, and are:

    1) It returns inconsistent and false results. For example, under the Summary/referrers screen, it might show 3 users in the count column when I know for a fact that only one has entered my site from that referrer. I’ve tested it myself, and witnessed the immediate results. Sometimes it shows only 1, sometimes 2, sometimes 3. If I see that 6 users have come from a single referrer, then I have no way of know if it’s truly 6, or 2, or 1, for that matter.

    2) When I initially set up Stat Traq, I was asked to configure it with regard to the inclusion of RSS and Googlebot hits in the results. I’d like to change that configuration, but can find no way to do so.

    3) On the IP Addresses screen, some IP addresses show up up to 20-25 times, and there’s no way to filter them to account for this. Additionally, there’s no way to get an accurate count of the total number of unique IPs, aside from counting each unique address / block of addresses manually, and that’s no way to run things.

Are these characteristics/limitations inherent in all stat programs / counters, or is it unique to Stat Traq? Does anyone have suggestions about how to remedy these issues, or, barring that does anyone have a better product they can point me to? Any advice or insight is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bill
