    I don’t know what title to give this question!

    I am trialling various stats plugins after the one I’ve used for two years suddenly stopped working properly after an update. I really like the appearance of this one, but the numbers it is presenting appear to be absolute nonsense.

    Until the recent problem with my other plugin, both it and Jetpack were recording similar data – so let’s therefore assume that Jetpack is a suitable benchmark.

    Today so far, for example, Jetpack says I have 249 views (my previous plugin would have noted similar and recorded them as visits).

    Wp Stats has it down as 475 visits (from 174 search engine referrals).

    I have tried altering some of the settings which, allowing for the poor explanation (the manual just repeats what the dashboard says and provides no details) to prevent self-referrals, but there is no change.

    All I want to know is how many visits I am getting, but the numbers don’t stack up.

    From the FAQ:

    = I’m using another statistics plugin/service and get different numbers for them, why? =

    Pretty much every plugin/service is going to give you different results for visits and visitors, there are several reasons for this:

    * Web crawler detection
    * Detection method (javascript vs server side PHP)
    * Centralized exclusions

    Services that use centralized databases, like Google Analytics, for spam and robot detection have better detection than WP Statistics can. The trade off of course is relaying on an external service.

    Thanks, Greg.

    Yes, I realise that there are differences between methods used, but the ones I’m seeing here are massively different, that’s all.

    Thanks anyway.
