• I set up a wordpress.com site with my godaddy domain. Now I realize I would like to have a wordpress.org site instead.
I have NO info on the .com site that I need to transfer.

How do I begin a new wordpress.org site but ensure that I will be able to use my domain on it?

    Thank you!

    Thats great.

You need a redirection, right ? You have to pay a bit money :

    http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/redirect/

If your blog site was (take my name as arbitrary example) abhishekghosh.wordpress.com and you want to install WordPress software on abhishekghosh.net and need to have everything running great follow this points :

    1. Register and domain and host it on any rented server
    2. Adjust nameserver accordingly
    3. Install WordPress
    4. You can transfer the things for WordPress dot com blog to your website as XML files
    5. Use the redirection service
    6. Think about designing, themes later, first is the rightly transferring rightly.

There are different kinds of redirection, the plus point of Blogger is that, we can use javascript redirection from old blog fully free of cost. Its a bit painful for free WordPress.
If there is practically less post, instead of redirection, put a banner with link to your new website. Google and other search engines will gradually understand and show your self hosted website.
