I had used and relied on Wordfence for years without any major issue, considering it an essential plugin.

However, recently, Wordfence started developing issues that were causing drastic website slowdowns.
Add to that, I discovered that Wordfence was causing issues with Jetpack Backup and Scan completing. The issue was specifically a Wordfence table identified by Automattic support.

Regardless, probably the most disappointing thing was the lack of support.

  • Thanks for your thoughts about Wordfence.

Regarding your support experience, I apologize for the delays but as Phil alluded to we are in the process of staffing up the support forums at the moment. We have 3 million users, most of them free like you, and we do our best to get to everyone. Phil responded to you about 19 hours ago and is currently waiting on your reply. However, as the forum moderators will tell you support here is completely voluntary. That means that no plugin or theme author is required to provide support here at all. We feel it is important to offer it and provide paid and trained Wordfence staff to assist our free users. We try to respond in a timely manner but it is not always possible. If you are unhappy with the level of support offered and a more one on one experience is better suited to your needs, you should opt for a Premium subscription.

Of course, if you prefer to move to another security solution we wish you all the best in whatever choice you make.

    Tim
