Support » Plugin: Ultimate Member - User Profile & Membership Plugin » Standard WP site search does not work for non-logged-in visitors

  • Hi,

My website is partially public and partially members-only.
The standard access setting in UM is “Site accessible to Logged In users”. Just to avoid that when a content contributor forgets to set the post permissions to “members only” , the post goes to the wide public.

Individual public posts get the access permission “content accessible to everyone”. This setting is also applied to the post category “public” to which these posts belong.
All the rest is getting no special permission – thus depending on the deafult overall setting – or a specific “content visible to logged in users”, including the specific user role.

    My problem :
    1) When I’m logged-in as a member, I can use the standard WP search function to search & find posts and pages accross the website. The resulst are a mix of public and member-only content. This is a is normal behaviour based on my settings.
    2) When I’m logged out – thus just being a public viewer – all search results are redirecting to a login page. Also the results for public content. Thus I do not see a title, any excerpt or post/page content. I just see the login page. This also happens when I’m searching specifically on criteria that are only published in public posts.
??) So, how can I get this search working, that it can dsiplay public only search results for non-logged-in visitors ?

Thanks in advance for helping me out.

  • I don’t know. I never said the response will be immediate. You’ll be getting free look at your problem by WP experts though which you’ll hardly get here.
