Support » Fixing WordPress » Standard WP search directing to homepage

  • For some reason the standard WordPress search doesn’t show results, it just takes me back to my homepage. I’ve tried the default theme and disabling plugins but the issue is still there. I’ve also tried disabling the homepage and using the latest posts for home, but the issue is still there.

I’m currently using Google search so at least I still have a search facility.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,
I suggest you to clear caches of your browser and then retry because your website search is working properly on my side.

Your search is returning a 500 error:

    Request URL: https://swapahouse.co.uk/?s=cupboard
    Request Method: GET
    Status Code: 500

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

Thank you for your replies. The issue seems to be with the theme I’m using. The search works in mobile view, not desktop! I’ve contacted the developer for support.

    Thanks again!
