Support » Installing WordPress » Standard install failure

  • I tried 3 fresh installs with a failure each time.
I checked with my host (pair.com) and they confirmed that PHP and Mysql are active.
I created the database and uploaded all of the files, with the wp-config.php file edited as follows:
    define(‘enhan_tobiascbrown’, ‘wordpress’); //
define(‘enhan_2’, ‘username’); // Your MySQL username
    define(‘Ypiblah’, ‘password’); // …and password
When I tried to launch /wp-admin/install.php, I get the following response:
Error establishing a database connection! …
    Thanks,
    Toby.

  • you got it backwards, should be something more like this
    define(‘wordpress’,’enhan_tobiascbrown’);…

Okay, I setup a new database, entered my parameters as follows, but the same error occurs,
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘enhan_toby’); // The name of the database
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘enhan_2’); // Your MySQL username
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘iLKblah’); // …and password
    Thanks.

Resolved! I added the database name and it worked. Great!
