 * WordPress 4.2.4 running Twenty Fifteen theme.
 * I am not sure if I need to setup apache2 differently?

 * In Settings for this calendar, I have this checked:
    Make this calendar public
   Learn more This calendar will appear in public Google search results.
 * The calendar ID is: [dr.tom.eagle@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/ssl-error-18/dr.tom.eagle@gmail.com?output_format=md)
 * I notice the example has numbers and characters at the beginning of the ID.

 * I am currently using my personal calendar during the testing phase. The church
   secretary will be available Thursday for me to make sure it is public.

 * yes your calendar is public
 * are these mostly recurring events?
 * perhaps you need to tick expand recurring events from the feed settings in WordPress
   or they won’t show
 * I can’t see though the error in your first message (the one complaining about
   SSL) – where exactly does it get printed?

 * Hi Tom,
 * have you perhaps tried to install a SSL certificate on your server? it looks
   like a SSL problem

 * I tried, but I am not sure if I did it right.
    I wish I know more about SSL.
   I created a self-certificate. But I get the same results.

 * THINK I FIXED IT USING:
    [https://support.quadrahosting.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=215](https://support.quadrahosting.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=215)
   WHICH:
 * WordPress Error: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK
 * Symptom
 * In WordPress, when trying to install a Theme, view the RSS or performing other
   operations that use CURL, the following error message appeared:
 * SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK.
    Details: error:14090086:
   SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed
 * Solution
 * This is because WordPress is using its own certificate bundle, overriding the
   global system certificate bundle. The problem is that the certificate bundle
   that WordPress has is old and needs to be updated. To do this, please download
   the latest one from [http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem](http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem)
   and save it as ca-bundle.crt
 * Upload this file to: wp-includes/certificates/ca-bundle.crt
 * I WILL DO SOMEMORE TESTING!!!

 * Hi Tom,
 * it’s strange, normally you wouldn’t need any of this
 * I think it might have to do with the current server configuration? if you’re
   using simple http as it appears your website does, there are no SSL certificates
   involved, unless the server or your installation has something misconfigured
   I guess?
 * the Google Calendar Events plugin does a curl request to Google when fetching
   events so yes that’s where the error is triggered

 * I am using the latest wordpress (2.2.8) which included wp-includes/certificates/
   ca-bundle.crt
    When I downloaded the latest (?) global system certificate bundle
   from [http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem](http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem) and
   save it as ca-bundle.crt, the Google Calendar Event plugin started working. If
   you find out the ins-and-outs of why this was necessary, I would be interested
   in knowing.
 * I am building up a new web server (hardware and software) to take the place of
   my current server. It was time!
