# SSL certificate error

 * Anytime I try to install or update a plugin, I get the following error: “An error
   occurred while updating Image Hover Effects: Download failed. Problem with the
   SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)”
    I do not have an SSL certificate. The error
   is being called from the Update.php file in my wp-admin folder and it seems to
   be an intended error if an SSL cert. could not be successfully retrieved from
   wordpress.org (or .com not sure which). I’ve contacted my host several times 
   with no luck Please help! Thanks Casey

 * anyone ever heard of this error? I see it all over google and the fix seems to
   be restart apache but I’ve asked my host (hostgator) to do that several times
   but doesn’t seem to change anything.
