Support » Plugin: FeedWordPress » SSL certificate did not match the requested domain name

  • Hi Charles
    Thank you for your great plugin – I have been using it for a few years now and it has been working very well.

    I am currently moving my site to a new updated server and have found that my main feed has the error listed below.

    My site is up to date (latest version of WP and your plugin) – so the error is being caused by the updated server setup. The new server is running php7 etc..

    object(WP_Error)#1407 (2) {
      array(1) {
        array(1) {
          string(55) "SSL certificate did not match the requested domain name"
      array(0) {

    Looking at my feed: Mozilla throws up a warning but Chrome and IE seem happy.

    Is there an easy way to fix this?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Kind Regards

  • Just a follow up for anyone else have this issue.

    I have just setup my new server to be able to switch php versions and changing to PHP version 5.6 for this domain fixes this issue.

    Hello brad1004,

    I am still having this issue, I used ‘Why No Padlock?’ test on both my websites and am getting “our SSL certificate does not match your domain name” I am trying to get in contact with our hosting company but they have not been helpful previously. any help anyone!!

    Hi @mcd-media-ltd

    This does not sound like the error I experienced

    It could just be that you have not configured your cert to be used by both and

    Hope that helps.

    Kind Regards

    Thanks Brad1004,

    I have contacted hosting company and they are checking it out. I have typed both with and without www. and it goes direction to our website that is with out the www, if you understand me, this is wrecking my head!!! hopefully hosting company with have a solution soon.

    The issue is with

    Try it in a new browser – it looks like your cert does not include the www

    I think your cert was issued without the www – this needs to be selected when requesting the cert – you will need to get your SSL cert reissued to include the www bit

    This is definitely the problem

    My goodness you are so right!!!! And here was I thinking I am a novice!!! Will get onto hosting company now. Thanks for the help and fast replies.
